The Unforgettable Georgie Vyse
The Egyptians believed that
you die twice. Once when you take your final breath, and then again the last
time someone utters your name.
They believed your spirit lived on as long as people remembered you. Our friend George will be remembered long after we have gone.
A fighter for workers' rights against all forms of authoritarianism and oppression, and a true proactive friend of the Taxi trade, George didn't suffer fools gladly, especially those in power.
If George could help someone,
he would - that was his nature. He personally helped me on more than one
occasion.
George Vyse is, in my and
most knowledgeable people's opinion, the most significant name in the history
of this great trade.
The passing of the inimitable Georgie Vyse marks the end of an era – a time when our trade was a brotherhood.
There is so much more to
George than a trade stalwart - George was first and foremost a proud Dad, and he
was a loyal, unquestioning friend.
George was also an unflappable entrepreneur with a keen business mind. He dressed dapper and always drove a spotless cab. George took great pride in his appearance and everything he did.
Georgie Vyse will be sorely
missed, but our memories will keep him alive.
